for a safe arrival and a pleasant stay in Rome

Always better email the Innkeeper your arrival time in Rome. We would like to make sure all goes well starting from your arrival, giving you the experience of visiting Rome by avoiding possible unpleasant inconveniences and getting the most from our beautiful city. Once in Rome we will be pleased to give you all the information and advise you need on how to move in town. In the meanwhile read our important tips...

GENERAL ADVISE. For your first arrival in Rome and for the sightseeings we strongly recommend the use of a money belt were to keep your valuables like cash, travellers checks, documents, credit cards etc. to avoid being pick-pocketed! so buy in advance those special belts designed to be worn under your clothing

ARRIVING IN ROME. Please do not trust offers of transport other than those described in this publication. Watch out for pickpocketers, especially on buses and metropolitana. If you take the obvious precautions, you will not have any trouble.

On arrival at the Flaminio station please buy an Italy phone card and call the Innkeeper's mobile at the following number +39.333.3373484

• Keep a copy of your passport and visa, if necessary, in a separate bag than your originals. Arrange a hand bag with one t shirts or a change in case your luggage is lost. Lost luggage can be sent back at the Villa in two or three days.

• Pack lightly and leave space in your baggage for souvenirs. Try to limit the number of pieces of baggage you take with you.

• Label your baggage clearly for destination, name and the phone number where you can be reached at your destination site, put the innkeeper's telephone numbers.

• Mark your baggage with distinctive tape, ribbon or, in some other way, make it easily identifiable.

• Dress comfortably for your trip. Wear comfortable shoes, etc.

• Bring walking shoes for touring and appropriate clothing for the type of weather you expect.

• When carrying large amounts of cash, jewelry and credit cards, do really consider those special belts designed to be worn under your clothing. Be aware also in restaurants and cafes.

ADVIDSE ON TAXI. We strongly recommend that you use only the white licensed taxis with meters, they must have on the top a sign with written ''taxi''. Do not trust those offering you the ride to downtown inside or just outside the airport/station, you must go straight to the nearest taxi station and take a licensed taxi there. Always make sure that the meter is switched on. If not, ask the taxi driver to do it. The ride from the station to the Villa should be aboout 15 euro plus 1 euro for each piece of luggage

The fare of licensed public taxis are as follow: Leonardo da Vinci Airport - Rome: Fare on meter plus euro 6 flat rate, usually around 60 euro. Surcharge fees are applied for baggage - euro 1 each, night runs, on Sundays and holidays.

CAR RENTAL. The following car rental companies are in Leonardo da Vinci Airport : Avis, EuroDollar, Europcar, Hertz, Italy by Car and Maggiore. Their offices can be easily reached from both the Domestic and International Terminals. Just follow the re ntal a Car signs.

DAY TRIPS. Ostia antica, Tivoli and the Castelli are easy enough to reach by public transport: the area is well connected by three railway lines (to Frascati, Albano and Velletri respectively) and by the excellent Cotral buses, which leave from the Anagnina bus station at the end of metro line A. A daily travelcard known as a B.I.R.G. (Biglietto Integrato Regionale Giornaliero) allows unlimited travel on both bus and train throughout the area, which falls into Zone B of the Latium travel system. The ticket costs 4 Euro and also covers city Metro and buses.
